Daisy Geer

d. April 8, 2026

Daisy, our sweet and resilient girl, passed away peacefully in her mamas arms on April 8, 2026—her “gotcha day”—at the age of 16.

Daisy’s life began in heartbreaking circumstances. For the first eight years of her life, she lived in a puppy mill in Oklahoma, where her sole purpose was to breed. She knew only confinement, neglect, and hardship. When she was rescued in 2018 and brought to Minnesota by Last Hope Pet Rescue, the toll of those years was evident both inside and out.

At her first veterinary visit, Daisy underwent a mammary tumor removal and was spayed. She had most of her teeth removed due to severe damage from years of trying to chew her way out of a tiny crate where she had been kept day and night—a struggle that left her with the endearing little tongue that always peeked out. She weighed only four pounds and was suffering from intestinal worms, double ear infections, a skin infection, fleas, severely matted fur, and even hundreds of tiny slivers embedded in her skin from the wood chips that lined her crate.

Just two weeks after her rescue, we saw her precious face and instantly knew she belonged with us. After meeting her once, we adopted her in 2018—and from that moment on, Daisy became family.

Daisy was not a typical dog. At eight years old, she had never learned how to walk on a leash, play with toys, or understand basic commands. She lived with anxiety and had never been potty trained, having spent her life confined to a crate. But with patience, love, and time, Daisy began to learn what it meant to be safe, to be cared for, and to be loved.

She grew into a gentle, easygoing, and deeply affectionate companion. A true lap dog, Daisy found her greatest joy in cuddling close to her humans, soaking up the comfort she had been denied for so long. Each day, she learned to trust a little more, and each day she gave that love right back.

We often told Daisy about the day we rescued her—but in truth, it was she who rescued us. She reminded us of resilience, of quiet strength, and of the incredible capacity for love even after a life of hardship.

Daisy’s story is one of survival, healing, and unconditional love. Though we never knew how much time we would have with her, we promised to love her with our whole hearts—and we did.

Adopting a senior dog is like fast-forwarding to the best part, and Daisy was truly the very best part of our lives.

She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her, miss her deeply, and carry her memory in their hearts always.
