We give them a home for a part of our lives, but they give us their whole lives. And sometimes, loving them means knowing when it’s time to let them go. ❤️🐾
We said goodbye to our sweet Daphne, our Daffy, our Fatty. 14 years. Fourteen years of life together. We truly grew up together. She was there through so many chapters of my life. We bought a house, went through a toxic breakup, got married, and brought our babies home. Through every change, every milestone, and every season of life, Daphne was always there.
She loved her car rides to Grandpa’s house and her vacations there while we were camping. One of her absolute favorite things was running alongside Grandpa’s golf cart. She could hardly contain her excitement.
She was our protector, and heaven forbid the Culligan guy or FedEx drivers get anywhere near us! She guarded her people with her life, and there was never a doubt about who she belonged to.
And then there were baths. Daphne absolutely HATED baths. She made sure everyone knew exactly how she felt about bath day.
When we brought Winston home, it was like Daphne became a puppy again, even if just for a little while. Watching them together gave us some extra special memories. She didn’t get along with many dogs, but Winny boy was one.
Our hearts are broken, but knowing she is no longer hurting brings us comfort. It’s never enough time, and 14 years still doesn’t feel long enough. I would give anything for one more car ride, one more trip to Grandpa’s, one more greeting at the door, and one more ordinary day with you.
The OGs of our home are together again in heaven. Delilah and Daphne. ❤️ I hope you two are running around together, pain-free, waiting for us.
Thank you for 14 years of unconditional love, loyalty, protection, laughter, and memories. Our home will never be quite the same without you.
Run free, Daffy. Go chase that golf cart at Grandpa’s, enjoy not having to take another bath, and I hope heaven has enough bones and gravy for you.
We love you forever, Fatty. 🐾🌈
