In Loving Memory of Leo ❤️

July 9, 2020 – December 19, 2025

Leo was born in Wisconsin on July 9, 2020, and joined our family on August 24, 2020, at just six weeks old and barely half a pound. From the very beginning, he surprised us and quietly claimed his place in our hearts. That tiny baby grew into a strong, beautiful 5½-pound boy, complete with ears that once dragged on the floor and later bounced happily as he ran, reminding us daily how much he had grown.

Leo lived life entirely on his own terms, with a gentle spirit and a quiet confidence that made him unmistakably him. While he never loved being held, he learned to trust us in his own way - growing comfortable with road trips and contentedly riding in our arms. Car washes were a particular favorite; he was endlessly captivated by the lights and motion, watching with calm curiosity as the world moved around him.

He truly lived his best life free-roaming, spending his days flopped comfortably in his tunnels, chewing through boxes to reach his blankets, or sleeping tucked safely under our beds. Evenings belonged to Leo and followed a sacred routine we will cherish forever. Each night, as we tucked him in, we said his nightly prayers while he couldn’t wait to have his craisin, broken into tiny pieces and tucked onto a pinecone. He would then dive into his hay to forage for his favorite homemade treat, followed by chomping contentedly on fresh cilantro or carrot tops before his big, nightly flop. We kissed him goodnight, always.

As we made our way upstairs, we would peek into the living room from the landing and see him sprawled out, soaking in the quiet while listening to his instrumental love songs - his very own playlist. Leo would fall asleep for a few peaceful hours before making his way upstairs for more hay and a few midnight snacks. In the morning, he greeted the day by meeting us downstairs, eager for breakfast. He hopped on the couch then onto our lap to have his banana, cilantro / carrot tops, before lying on the floor as we washed his face while he munched on his homemade treat. This was his daily routine before retreating into his tunnels for a well-earned nap.

Leo filled our home with warmth, movement, and love in ways only he could. We will forever miss hearing him hop through the house, seeing his tiny footprints worn into the carpet near the wall, and watching him race down the stairs with determination. He always loved finding anything where he could see his reflection. Now, the house feels too still, too quiet, and our hearts are shattered by the space he leaves behind.

Leo was deeply loved, fiercely cherished, and always safe with us. He gave us comfort, joy, laughter, and unconditional love, and in return, he was surrounded by devotion every single day of his life. Though his time with us was far too short, his routines, his presence, and his love will remain with us forever - woven into our home, our memories, and our hearts. ❤️
